Says abrogation of Art 370 harmed the bond between J&K & rest of the country

Srinagar Dec 06 (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah on Wednesday said the BJP government has harmed the bond between Jammu and Kashmir and the rest of the country with the abrogation of Article 370 provisions, saying the people were not happy with the decisions.

This he said while addressing the workers' conventions of the party in Pulwama and Kulgam today. The convention in Pulwama was organized by In-charge Constituency and Vice President South Zone Muhammad Khalil Band while the Kulgam event was organized by In-charge Constituency and State Spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar.

Party General Secretary Haji Ali Muhammad Sagar, Party Treasurer Shammi Oberoi, Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani, Chief Spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq, Political advisor Mudassar Shahmiri, State Secretary Sakina Itoo, South Zone President Syed Tawqeer, District President Pulwama Ghulam Mohiuddin Mir, District President Shopian Showkat Hussain Ganai, former legislators Abdul Majeed Larmi, Sheikh Mohammad Rafi, incharge Devsar Peerzada Faroz Ahmed, South Zone Chief Organizer Abdur Rehman Tantray, district Secretary Safdar Ali Khan, DDC members were present in the conventions and other functionaries were also present.

Omar Abdullah in his speech said, “Today, the Parliament session is going on, various bills are being brought regarding Jammu and Kashmir. Article 370 is also being discussed and it is often asked in the Parliament what Article 370 has given to Jammu and Kashmir. But those who raise this question don't like to hear the answer and the fact is that no central government would have given as much as Article 370 gave to Jammu and Kashmir. The people of Jammu and Kashmir got the ownership rights of this land without any compensation and this was possible only when there was Article 370. Our boys and girls got the right to free education from schools to universities, single line administration and various concessions only because of Art 370.”

"We want to ask the central government what has happened to Jammu and Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370. What happened to the big claims that were made on August 05, 2019? There were talks about giving jobs to the youth sitting at home. Can any youth say that a government officer came to their house and asked for a government job on August 5, 2019? Is there a factory here where our youth is earning employment? Has a new hospital opened where our patients are being treated? Has a school, college or university been established where our children are studying? Has it become easier for us to go to any government office? Do government officials treat us with respect today? Do they meet our demands? Have things improved? Is the fear of guns over? Identify one area where our lives have improved since August 5, 2019?” he said.

The NC Vice President said, “Today our sentiments and feelings have no value. Recently, a student studying in a college in Srinagar said something that hurt our sentiments, following which protests took place in schools and colleges. It was hoped that action should be taken against whoever hurt our sentiments. Schools and colleges were closed but nothing was done after that. When our feelings are hurt, they don't care, but when someone else's feelings are hurt, all laws are applied. This is the situation in Jammu and Kashmir. No one is ready to listen, our rulers are not giving a damn, look where people are suffering, no electricity, no water, no necessities of life and no government relief.”

He said that today there is a 12-hour power cut. “If you cannot improve the power system, at least let it remain as it was in the past. The situation of water is also the same. The name of the department was changed from PHE to Jal Shakti, but the people were neither given Jal nor Shakti. Neither the tap reached nor the water, but there was definitely a scam of 12 thousand crores in the scheme and the accusations were made. The person is not a stranger but a high official of the same government.”

He said that when a politician is accused of even 12 rupees, the agencies of the whole world break down on him, but here there is a scam of 12 thousand crores, but everyone has kept silent.(KNS)
