Srinagar, Dec 30 (KNS): A day-long awareness programme on traffic rules and regulations was held in the vicinity of the University of Kashmir.
The programme was organised by the KU’s Office of Programme Coordinator, National Service Scheme in collaboration with Traffic Police (Srinagar City) at three different locations outside the University’s main campus at Hazratbal.
Policemen from City Traffic and NSS volunteers stopped private cars, commercial cabs/vehicles and two-wheelers and counseled them to follow traffic rules and regulations for their safety, as well as the safety of pedestrians and fellow commuters.
Special emphasis was laid on urging drivers to wear seat belts while driving and avoid rash/negligent driving. Riders of two-wheelers were strictly advised to wear crash helmets and set an example for others to follow.
The student volunteers and policemen were accompanied by Mr Tariq Ahmed Wani, Additional SP Traffic (City).
Programme Coordinator NSS KU, Dr Mussavir Ahmad highlighted the essence of obeying traffic rules and encouraged the NSS volunteers to continue participating in such activities that benefit the society at large.
