Jammu, March 9 (KNS) ; In a heartwarming display of integrity, the ticket checking staff of the Northern Railway's Jammu Division returned a lost mobile phone to its owner, reinforcing the railway's commitment to passenger service and safety.
Officials stated that the incident occurred on Sunday when Deepak Sharma, a ticket checker on duty, was inspecting the Sleeper coach of Train Number 12471 (Swaraj Express) running between Kathua and Jammu. Sharma discovered an unattended mobile phone and immediately took it into his custody following standard security protocols.
Upon the train's arrival at Jammu station, the staff swiftly utilized the public address system to make an announcement regarding the found item. A passenger promptly approached the ticket checking office, and after completing the due verification process, the device was handed over.

The grateful passenger lauded the railway staff for their honesty.
Commending the team, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal stated that the Jammu Division is dedicated to ensuring the safety of passengers' belongings. "Returning unclaimed luggage found on a moving train to its rightful owner with complete transparency is a challenging task. Our staff accomplished this with utmost dedication. This incident demonstrates the seriousness of every Indian Railways employee towards passenger service," Singhal said.
