Non availabilty of General surgery facility at Trauma Hospital Pattan, patients face inconvenience

Srinagar 5 July (KNS)  The non-availability of General surgical procedure at Trauma hospital Pattan, haunts the patients of area as they have to go  private hospitals for surgeries.

The patients who have any  problem and want to have surgery, they suffer as General Surgical facility were stopped at trauma hospital Pattan as it has converted into maternity hospital.

During Covid19 crises, OPD services and General surgical  facility were stopped in various hospitals.

Hospitals in North Kashmir declared  as 'non covid' facilities, the pregnent ladies from different blocks, of baramulla district are treated  Trauma Hospital. 

Locals told KNS, that operation theater is only functioning for labor,  general surgeries has stopped as  hospital have only one theater for opertaion.

Locals further told, that health department should start LSCS, in Kunzar, Tangmarg and Sopore blocks, so that general surgeries will start again at Trauma hospital.

Adding that the gynecologists from various blocks, who has deployed at pattan, should be detached back their original postings swiftly, so patients of adjacent area's can get LSCS facility at their own block hospital.

However' from past weeks Covid19 cases are declining many hospitals resume services in the valley. Last week Deptt of Health services has issued order to resume General surgical facility in hospitals.

"I am suffering from Gall blader problem, few days back", i went to Srinagar for surgery, but i was not admitted at there", said jabbar sheikh


Locals told KNS, the Surgeon of trauma hospital Pattan Dr Syed Irfan who was deputed  to Kupwara for covid duties, he should bring back to here as soon as possible.


They urges LG Manoj sinha, Additional chief secretary Health and Medical Education Atul Dullu and Director Health Services  Dr M A Rather, resume General Surgery services speedily at hospital Pattan, so that patients will not suffer more.

Meanwhile, sources told KNS' BMO Pattan Dr mastoora has written to CMO Baramulla about this issue(KNS)
