Srinagar, Dec 22 (KNS): Patients at District Hospital Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district Wednesday alleged that patient care has been badly hit due to dearth of staff for running a Computed Tomography (CT) scan at the hospital.

Talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), they alleged that are being forced to go to Srinagar hospitals for CT scan facilities, as the facility is defunct at DH Handwara due to non-availability of technician.

Meanwhile, deputy medical superintendent DH Handwara, Dr Aijaz said the CT Scan service has been hit due to relieving of its technicians back to GMC Baramulla on the directions of principal GMC Baramulla.

He, however, said that during day time they somehow manage CT Scan, but due to shortage of staff service is affected after 5 pm.

He also said they are trying their best to keep it functional round the clock to provide hassle-free service to patients, however, they need to train the existing staff which is less and are managing sections like X-Ray, ECG and USG  and now they have to keep CT Scan functional as well.

Dr Aijaz said that it is difficult to manage all sections at the same time due to dearth of technical staff. (KNS)
