No shortage of oxygen cylinders in J&K: Ranjan P Thakur

Srinagar, April 20 (KNS): Principal Secretary Industries and Commerce Ranjan P Thakur today said Jammu and Kashmir has adequate number of oxygen cylinders and beds in hospitals.
Ranjan is also  heading a special panel  Jammu Kashmir for ensuring timely availability of oxygen in the hospitals of Jammu and Kashmir. He inspected SKIMS Soura on Tuesday to inspect the availability of oxygen cylinders. 

 Speaking to Kashmir News Service (KNS) , he said, " I assure the people of Jammu and Kashmir that there is no shortage of oxygen cylinders in our hospitals. I would like to assure everyone that we have adequate number of beds and sufficient amount of oxygen cylinders in our hospitals. At this moment we have taken decision to divert the oxygen from non-medical uses to medical use to ensure sufficient amount of oxygen is available in our hospitals. "
He said Government is continuously monitoring the situation and there is no need to panic about the shortage of Oxygen. 
"I would also like to inform that our  local units are our manufacturers of oxygen cylinders in both Jammu and Srinagar so there are no chances of shortage."
 
"I would like to retreat that no need to get worry about the availability of oxygen, not for future, we have adequate supply of oxygen available with us," he added.
He also urged the people to wear mask, maintain social distancing and follow the government guidelines." 
The non-availability of oxygen has become a serious issue in many states where people are dying in large numbers which reports say due to lack of oxygen cylinders in hospitals.

J&K recorded 1,516 fresh Covid cases on Monday. The new patients include 231 travellers, pushing the tally to 1,48,208. Six deaths in the past 24 hours have raised the toll to 2,063, officials said.
India's total tally of COVID-19 cases climbed to 1,53,21,089 with 2,59,170 new Coronavirus infections being reported in a day, while active cases surpassed the 20-lakh mark, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Tuesday.

The death toll increased to 1,80,530 with a record 1,761 daily new fatalities, the data updated early morning said. (KNS)
