No residence, commercial shops on which livelihood of people depends will be demolished: DC Jammu

Srinagar, Feb 04 (KNS): Deputy Commissioner Jammu Avny Lavasa has assured the people that no residence or small commercial shops on which livelihood of families is dependent will be demolished during the ongoing eviction drive.

 
The statement from Deputy Commissioner came in view of the protest by people when administration was carrying out eviction drive in Malik Market.
 
The Deputy Commissioner clarified that action was taken after a prominent showroom was issued notice and it failed to submit any justification in a stipulated time frame.
 
She said it is a pro-people drive and only against those who have encroached upon the state land for their vested interest by misusing their power. 
 
“Action is taken for the benefit of people and the land retrieved will be used for public interest activities.”
 
She also said the law and order situation is under control and appealed to the people to corporate with the administration for their own benefit. (KNS)
