Srinagar April 19 (KNS): Abdul Salam Mir, who recently assumed charge as Director Food Supplies and Consumer affairs on Monday said that there will be no compromise with the quality standards and prices of the essential Commodities  in markets and strict action will be taken against people selling on higher rates.

While talking to Kashmir News Service, he said that Assistant directors and other officials have been directed  to work with added dedication and provide keep contineous checking of markets over Price and quality of essential commodities.

" I have asked the concerned officers to personally check the quality and price of goods in markets and the officers have been cautioned  that no compromise would be tolerated on quality of Essential Goods and warned stern action in case of any laxity in this regard", he added.

Mir also said that corruption-free and transparent governance of department will be my  priority  and added that with transparency and honesty in department, every forthcoming step will for easier for us to implement for the welfare of people.

He also said that  concerned officers have been directed to ensure adequate availability essential commodities in all parts of  valley in this month of Ramadan. He also impressed upon the officers to personally monitor the ration supply to far-flung and remote areas so that the people living in these areas get regular supply.

"ADs, inspection teams and other officials have been directed to adhere strict covid Protocol in markets and on shops so to play their role in curbing Covid-19 which has shown Resurgence and those violating Covid-19 protocols will be punished strictly at all", he added. (KNS).
