No change in our stance for restoration of Article 370, statehood to J&K: Farooq Abdullah

Srinagar, Sep 08(KNS) : Former chief minister and National Conference president Farooq Abdullah on Wednesday said that his party will participate in assembly elections, but the central government must first restore statehood in Jammu and Kashmir. 

While talking to reporters on the sidelines of 39th death anniversary of the party's founder Sheikh Abdullah at his mausoleum, Farooq Abdullah said that "I do not know when the elections will take place in Jammu and Kashmir but it is certain that our party will not stay away from the elections as we have to fight elections, ".

He also said that before elections the central government should first restore the status quo in Jammu and Kashmir. 

As far as the statehood of Kashmir and restoration of Article-370 and 35A is concerned, "We are adamant on this and There is no change in our stance. We are fighting and will continue to fight for it., " he said. 

On Afghanistan, he said that Taliban must protect human rights and follow Islamic principles and should develop friendly ties with all countries.(KNS).
