Srinagar, July 27 (KNS): Nageen Lake Conservation Organisation, thanked Lake Conservation and Management Authority for making an excellent arrangement and constructing a ramp at Nallah Amir Khan Gate which has greatly helped to arrest the solid waste flushed through this water stream into Gilsur and Khushalsur.
In a statement, issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Wangnoo said that the Nallah which is of vital importance was always filled with mounds of garbage and solid waste, which resulted in blockage of the gate and making the Gilsur and Khushsur vulnerable as all the solid waste ultimately gets dumped into the waterbodies.
He said that now that LC&MA constructed the ramp, all the solid waste is being collected efficiently, making the stream much clean as compared to before.
He also expressed concern over untreated sewage which directly gets emptied into the waterbody.
He said that in order to maintain the water quality of waterbodies, these types of drains need to be connected with STP’s or to a proper sewerage system.
He hoped that LC&MA will take an appropriate and prompt action in this regard and that these type of drains will not be allowed to flush out its water into any water body so that a sustained conservation of the waterbodies is achieved. (KNS)
