NIT Srinagar releases annual magazine ‘Sabzar’, newsletter ‘The Pulse’

  Srinagar, Mar 29 (KNS): The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar on Tuesday released its annual magazine, 'Sabzar' and the Institute's newsletter "The Pulse," for the academic session 2020-21 

 

The function was presided over by Director NIT Srinagar Prof (Dr.) Rakesh Sehgal, Registrar Prof. Syed Kaiser Bukhari, Editor-in-Chief of Sabzar, Prof GA Harmain, editorial board members, Prof Aijaz Ahmad and Prof Babar Ahmad; Associate editors Dr. Jaya Shrivastava, Dr. Ravi Bhushan; Pulse editor, Dr. Gusaia Qazi, Deans, HoDs and student editorial members attended the function.

On the occasion, Director NIT Srinagar, Prof. Sehgal said Sabzar magazine is a symbol of optimism the Institute has maintained while overcoming the challenges.  The fresh ideas shared by members mirror the variegated copying mechanisms adopted in all spheres of life in these challenging times, he said.

"The 2020-21 issue of the magazine reflects the active engagement of students, faculty, and other members of NIT Srinagar in academic and non-academic activities while adopting a blend of online, offline modes of participation," he said.

Regarding the newsletter, Prof. Sehgal said 'The Pulse' bears with academic, research, and co-curricular activities carried by the fraternity and it also reflects all accomplishments achieved in a previous academic year.  

"I am confident that this issue will send a positive signal across academia and encourage the faculty, students to continue in their endeavors," he said.

Prof. Sehgal appreciated the hard work put in by the editorial team under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) G A Harmain (Editor-in-Chief of Sabzar and The Pulse)) for collecting fresh ideas and giving them a novel shape for the readers to enjoy.

Institute's Registrar, Prof. Syed Kaiser Bukhari extended his greetings to students and staff of NIT Srinagar who have taken the initiative and contributed to latest editions of both 'Sabzar' and 'The Pulse' publications.

"Sabzar magazine has a rich heritage of showcasing the talent spectrum inside the college and our Institute has a very diverse set of students, faculty who come from all parts of the country. Their versatile inheritance and diverse backgrounds are strength of our Institute," he said.

Prof. Bukhari thanked Director NIT Srinagar, Prof. Sehgal for his encouragement and guidance in bringing out annual publications. He also congratulated the Editor-in-Chief of 'Sabzar' and 'The Pulse', Prof. GA Harmain, and his entire editorial team for successfully bringing out fresh editions of magazine and newsletter in record time.

On the occasion, the Editor-in-Chief of 'Sabzar' and 'The Pulse, Prof. GA Harmain said Sabzar in several languages connotes green. This name was coined for our magazine when people were yet to realize the importance of going green and benefits of green technologies for sustained living on earth, he said.

Prof. Harmain said Sabzar is a reminder to all of us of our responsibilities as engineers, innovators, and scientists to look towards greener ideas, technologies, and greener innovations.

"In this edition of Sabzar, there were four sections included English, Hindi, Urdu and Kashmiri and it is first time that Kashmiri section was also included in magazine. We have got a positive response from contributors and support from the entire NIT Srinagar family," he said.

Prof. Harmain expressed his gratitude to Dr. Jaya Shrivastava, Dr. Ravi Bhushan, Mr Zehab and Mr Syed Hadi. All of them displayed enormous willingness to cooperate at all stages of this mammoth work, he said.

Regarding The Pulse, Prof. Harmain said Pulse gives a feel of several activities of NIT Srinagar over the previous academic year in the areas of research, consultancy, and other spheres.

"This issue of Pulse proves information regarding published articles, patents filed, sponsored projects, conferences organized or attended by faculty, and workshops held on the campus," he said.

Prof. Harmain also thanked energetic team of The Pulse including Dr. Gausia Qazi and Mr. Mohd Zehab for their exemplary efforts in structuring the information for easy dissemination to the readers.

He expressed his gratitude to student editors including Syed Aga Hadi Riza and Mr. Mohd Zehab in formatting and arranging the articles. Mir Faizan, Hafeez Raza, Basar Qari, and Kamran Elyas also extended their support in getting photographs of different events of the college, which made the magazine more memorable, Prof. Harmain said.

Earlier Associate editors of Sabzar magazine, Dr. Jaya Shrivastava, Dr Ravi Bhushan, and The Pulse editor, Dr. Gusaia Qazi expressed their gratitude to Director NIT, Registrar, and Editor-in-Chief of publications for rekindling hope and support to entire team.

They termed the release of annual publications as a great achievement for the entire Institute and stated that they are committed to serving the institution in future as well.(KNS)
