NIA conducts searches in 7 districts of J&K in JeI funding case

Srinagar, Oct 27 (KNS): The National Investigation Agency on Wednesday conducted searches in seven districts of Jammu and Kashmir in connection with a case related to Jamaat-e-Islami militancy funding case.

In a statement, issuer to Kashmir News Service (KNS), a spokesperson said that NIA conducted searches in at 17 locations in Anantnag, Kulgam, Ganderbal, Bandipora, Budgam, Kishtwar and Jammu districts of J&K in case RC-03/2021/NIA/DLI.

“The case was registered by NIA on On March 05 this year in connection with separatist and secessionist activities of Jel, an unlawful association under the UA(P) Act even after its proscription on 28.02.2019. The members of the organisation have been collecting funds domestically and abroad which are being used for violent and secessionist activities,” reads the statement.

It reads that JeI has also been motivating impressionable youth of Kashmir and recruiting new members (Rukuns) in J&K to participate in disruptive secessionist activities.

“Searches conducted today included the premises of office bearers and members of Jel. During the searches conducted today, various incriminating documents and electronic devices were seized from the premises of the suspects,” it reads, adding that the further investigation in the case is going on.
