Says BJP wants to disempower people economically

Srinagar, Dec 18 (KNS): People’s Democratic Party senior leader, Rouf Bhat on Saturday said that new land laws are an attack on the identity, livelihood and future of Jammu and Kashmir.

Talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Bhat said that there is no such law in any part of world that agricultural land can be converted to non-agricultural land.

“But here in J&K, this unconstitutional law has been imposed in order to disempower the local people economically. It should be a matter of concern for every sector of J&K as it is an attack on the identity, livelihood and future of J&K people,” he said.

He also said that these laws will devastate the economy of J&K as agricultural land is the backbone of every nation and state.

“Not only demography, these laws are an attack on the survival and economy of J&K. BJP wants to disempower the people of J&K in order to render them economically helpless. All the people should stand against these laws for their survival and to safeguard the future of coming generations. I appeal to all the people of Jammu and Kashmir to take a unanimous stand against these new land laws. A political struggle should be carried out to withdraw these laws.”

He said that the civil society, along with the political parties should come forward to raise a voice against these agricultural laws so that the future of J&K could be saved.

About delimitation, he said that the commission is like a chessboard for BJP and RSS and no positive change will occur with the delimitation commission as the commission is only in favour of BJP.

He said that the case of article 370, which was scrapped illegally and unconstitutionally is still pending and the government is moving further to carry out the delimitation.

He maintained that PDP only wants to solve the Kashmir issue and dialogue is the only way to solve the issue peacefully. (KNS)
