New Delhi’s 'assertions' about Kashmir are 'incompatible' with ground realities: Mehbooba Mufti

Jammu, Nov 06 (KNS): PDP chief and former chief minister J&K Mehbooba Mufti on Friday mocked New Delhi, saying if “all is good” in Jammu and Kashmir after abrogation of Article 370 then why curbs have been imposed on dissent here.
According to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Mehbooba was interacting with party leaders and workers at party office Jammu. She said the situation across Jammu and Kashmir is not keeping well as New Delhi has executed fear and threat upon the people. “All in not well in J&K, people are under pressure. There is a threat and fear in place imposed by New Delhi”, she said.
She mocked New Delhi over asserting that the situation in J&K is ‘under control’ and the UT has started the journey of development after central government abrogated Article 370. “If assertions of New Delhi are compatible with ground realities in J&K then voice of dissent would not have been stifled, political leaders and workers would not have been jailed to protest against the highhandedness of Government”, Mehbooba said.
“Government is not allowing us to raise voice against brutalities and to talk for our rights. Our offices are being locked while leaders and activists are being barred and jailed”, PDP chief asserted.
She said it is not good to choke the voice of the people and push them to the wall. “People are the ultimate source of power and you can’t silence them using brute force. How can you make decisions against the wishes of the people? It seems democracy is there only on paper now”, Mehbooba said and thanked party workers in Jammu for their unflinching support in a terrible atmosphere.
While hitting hard to Central Government, the PDP chief said that BJP has scattered the Constitution of Country and want to replace it from its party agenda.
“Since BJP came into power, it scattered the Constitution while introducing anti-people bills. BJP want to replace the Constitution drafted by Dr BR Ambedkar to its party agenda”, Mehbooba said.
She said I am here to talk with people of Jammu and address their genuine concern especially their apprehension emerged after August 5, 2019 when New Delhi took away with our rights.
Pertinently Mehbooba along with dozens of senior mainstream political leaders have reached Jammu where meeting of People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) is scheduled on November 7 at Dr Farooq’s Bhatindi residence to chalk out the future strategy of group meant for restoration of Article 370 and 35(A).
