Seek capital punishment to culprits, Proper rehabilitation, medical care to victim

Srinagar, February 02:(KNS)   The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference on Wednesday condemned acid attack on a 24 year old girl in Hawal area of Srinagar, calling it most uncivilised and heartless of crimes, which do not deserve any clemency. 

In a Joint statement, the Party's Womem's Wing state President Shameema Firdous, State Secratary Sakina Itoo,  Provincial President Women's Wing Er. Sabiya Qadri, Social Media Wing In-Charge Sarah Hayat Shah and additional Spokesperaon Ifra Jan said that the  crime of this nature does not deserve any kind of clemency. "Words  would fail to describe the situation of that the  victim must have suffered  emotionally  as well as physically ; it cannot be compensated either by sentencing the accused or by grant of any degree of compensation," they said.

Denouncing the attack, the women functionaries demanded capital punishment for the culprits. "Whatever has happened is very wrong. A soul, an  identity and a face have been damaged. We condemn it unreservedly  and demand capital punishment for the perpratrators behind the henious crime. Stringent laws of the land should be invoked against such beasts. We stand with the victim and her family,” they added.


Calling for enactment of laws to curb such henious crimes against humanity, they said ,"This  attack is the second such incident in Kashmir in four months. On October 5 last year, an 18-year-old girl sustained burn injuries on the face in an acid attack in south Kashmir’s Shopian district. Justice delayed is justice denied. The law executing agencies have done their bit by nabbing the culprits,now it is for judiciary to take a lead by serving exemplary punishment to them," they added. 

They also demanded  full and free medical treatment to the  victim." The administration should ensure  free and effective treatment, including reconstructive surgery, free medicines,  rehabilitation and aftercare to the victim,"they stated.(KNS)
