Srinagar, August 19(KNS): In a bold move, the National Conference (NC) unveiled its comprehensive poll manifesto for the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections. Vice-President Omar Abdullah spearheaded the event, outlining the party's vision for the region's future.
At the forefront of the manifesto is the promise to fight for the restoration of J&K's political and legal status. The NC also pledged to provide 200 units of free electricity to the people of J&K if elected to power.
Omar adressing the press conference at hotel Radison emphasized the party's commitment to upholding the rights of the people and ensuring the government delivers on its promise of statehood. The manifesto also focuses on strengthening the public distribution system, ensuring access to essential commodities like sugar and kerosene through ration depots. Additionally, the party vowed to secure the release of political prisoners not involved in heinous crimes.
Addressing the press conference, Omar expressed disappointment over Jamaat-e-Islami's decision not to participate in the polls openly. He appealed to the people of J&K to give the NC a chance to serve them for the next five years.
The J&K UT will witness assembly elections in three phases, starting from September 18, with the counting of votes scheduled for October 4.(KNS).
