Banihal, April 8:(KNS) Envisioning crucial role for National Conference in steering J&K out from the present morass, National Conference leader and District President, Ramban Mir Sajjad Shaheen today said the people feel dejected and let down by the failure due to misgovernance of the present dispensation adding that the “People have understood the significance of a stable popular government, especially in a state like Jammu and Kashmir which is confronted with problems of varied nature”, Mr Shaheen said while welcoming more than a dozen political workers previously associated with Congress and BJP in National Conference fold at his residence today.
 
He said that the communal forces were destined to get decimated in the ensuing assembly elections when ever they are held in the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir saying that "there was no alternative to National Conference as the party has strived for ensuring peace and undertaking development during most testing times.
 
He described National Conference as a deep rooted public movement, which, he said, believes in single entity of the State and has been striving for assuaging the politico-developmental aspirations of all segments of people. He referred to the historic role of National Conference in generating political awakening and making the people masters of their own destiny. He also referred to the historic role played by National Conference in strengthening democracy and forging the bonds of amity between various sections of the people. 
 
He said Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah had envisioned a strong, prosperous and secular Jammu and Kashmir which is enshrined in his famous charter of Naya Kashmir. “This continues to be the guiding force for the party”, he added.
Mr Shaheen congratulated the new entrants and hoped this will further strengthen National Conference at grass roots levels.
 
Prominent who joined the party include Abdul Rashid, Baldev Singh, Balbir Singh, Bashir Ahmed, Gulam Ali, Prithvi Singh, Bheem Singh, Parshotam Singh Raju, Bansi Lal, Indar Singh, Shadi Lal, Ishar Dass, Kalyan Singh, Gulam Nabi Kalu, Chodhary and others.
 
Party district Vice president Maneshar Singh Raju, Incharge ST Cell District Ramban Chodhary Jamat Ali and block Vice President Rajinder Singh were also present on the occasion.(KNS)
