Srinagar April 11:(KNS) Today, events in Amateur Soft Tennis and Table Tennis were held at Sports Stadium Pulwama. The number of participants which included both Boys and Girls was around 120.
 
Picturesque Nanil ground continues to attract crowds. In the ongoing Spring Shield Cricket Tournament which has almost reached the culmination of the first round, Mattan Bluez, Shaksaz Sports registered wins.
 
In the first encounter of the day played between Shaksaz Sports and Seer Royals. Former piled up 108 runs for the loss of 10 wickets with Afridi Fayaz top scoring and aggregating 42 vital runs to his team total. For Seer Royals, Zahid took 5 wickets.
 
In reply Shaksaz Sports chased the said target easily in the 18th over for the loss of 7 wickets in which Adnan top scored with 32 runs. Adnan for his performance of 32 runs and 1 wicket was adjudged man of the match.
 
Yesterday ACC Bluez Adlash and Mattan Bluez were pitted against each other in the last fixture of the day. After winning the toss, Mattan Bluez elected to bat and scored 187/3 in their quota of 20 overs. Faizan played a well composed knock of 59 runs while Aayaz and Faiz also contributed with 47 and 46 runs respectively.
 
In reply ACC Bluez Adlash were bundled out for paltry 149 runs with some brilliant bowling performance by grabbing 4 wickets, and thus helped his team beat Mattan Bluez by 37 runs. Faizan for his brilliant all-round performance with both bat and ball was adjudged man of the match.
 
Meanwhile in the Jammu division a friendly tug of war match was played between a joint team composed of DDC members and Sarpanchs and Team Palli, which was won by the former after a very tough competition. Dr. Jatinder Singh, Minister of State for Personal and Public grievances, Pensions graced the occasion and interacted with all present at the venue.
 
Tug of War was followed by competitions in Wushu for different categories. Raghav emerged as winner after defeating Vinod while Ishant Singh bagged third position. In another match Suhil defeated Raghav Soni . Speaking on the occasion, Randhir Sharma Sarpanch of the village Pali who was also the chief guest on the occasion applauded the role of Sports Council in taking sports to the doorsteps of players hailing from remote areas of the union territory of J&K. He also appreciated the players for exhibiting the enthusiasm towards sports and turning in large numbers to both witness and participate in the events. He also added that, day is not far away when players from rural areas will compete in Olympic and world championships in large numbers.
 
Others present on the occasion included Sudershan Singh, Subash Bhagat, Romesh Chander Sharma, Lucky Sharma, Rampal Sharma and Mohan Lal who attended the event as guest of honours. Some prominent civil society members including Yudhvir Sharma, Madhan Lal  Nitih Sharma, Mukesh Sharma and officials including Divisional Sports Officer, Jammu Ashok Singh besides many sports enthusiasts, players and their parents were present on the occasion as well.
 
 
 
Meanwhile, in Udhampur competitions were held at Subhash Stadium, Udhampur in the games of  Hockey, Judo and Yoga  under the supervision of Naveen Sharma, Manager and game specific coaches .
 
Chief guest on the occasion was Priti Khajuria, Corporator while Vikram Singh Slathia Municipal Councilor was guest of honor. More than 110 pla=yers from adjoin panchayats participated in the event.
 
In the meantime a match was underway in the ongoing Youth Football League  being played at Gani Memorial Football Stadium ,Srinagar between FC Ganderbal and Chanapora Football Academy. Both the teams were giving tough fight to each other when the report was being filed.
