Movement of fruit laden trucks, general people to be allowed freely onwards on Srinagar-Jammu highway: Div Com Kashmir

 Srinagar, Sept 11 (KNS): Divisional Commissioner Kashmir V K Bidhuri Monday said that movement of fruit laden trucks and general public will be allowed hassle-free onwards on 270-km long Srinagar-Jammu highway.

Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhru as per KNS said that earlier authorities used to allow convoy and non-convoy movement on 270-KM long Srinagar-Jammu highway in odd and even schedules however after the review of road security situation by worthy Chief Secretary J&K Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta, people will be provided benefit of the situation.

"After February 14, 2019 when militants attacked CRPF convoy at Lethpora, Pulwama the authorities and other security stakeholders revisited the security scenario and it was decided that movement of convoy and non-convoy will be allowed as per odd and even schedule. However the situation has vastly improved and the benefit should be given to general public," Div Com Kashmir VK Bidhuri said.

"Security scenario along Srinagar-Jammu highway has been improved in past years and now it has been decided movement of fruit laden trucks and general public will be allowed freely to travel on the highway," Bidhuri added.

He said the decision has been revisited after Chief Secretary J&K reconsidered the road situation. (KNS)
