Residents appeal wildlife deptt to capture ‘rowdy animals’

Sopore, Mar 29 (KNS): The presence of monkeys has created panic among the residents of Sopore town of Baramulla district with authorities finding it difficult to catch them. 
 
With apprehensive about thr safety of their kids, residents of Sofi Hamam and NowHamam areas of Sopore town appealed to the authorities to rehabilitate the monkeys in the nearby forests. 
 
The residents said that people particularly children and women are reluctant to go out of their homes after the word about the presence of monkeys spread in the area.
 
Meanwhile, a wildlife officer told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that monkeys have started visiting human habitation and fields due to depletion of food sources in the forest and fringe areas.
 
Notably, a few days ago leopards were also spotted at various locations in the town, creating panic among the residents. (KNS)
