Mirwaiz pays tribute to Abbas Ansari on his 1st death anniversary

Srinagar, Oct 24 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Awami Action Committee (AAC) chairman Mirwaiz Dr Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq paid tributes to the  leading religious scholar, political and social leader late Moulana Muhammad Abbas Ansari on his first death anniversary.

Mirwaiz in a statement said that Moulana Abbas Ansari belonged to a family that has a history of close ties with the Mirwaizeen and he shared a close and warm relationship with him and his late father.

“He was a mentor to me, when I became the Mirwaiz at the early age of 17, and like a father figure guided me in political and diplomatic matters. He always stood by me and gave me valuable advice and encouragement at every stage,” he said.

He said that Ansari was a man of principles and farsighted as a political leader, and a distinguished religious scholar, preacher and writer.

He added that Ansari had a close relationship with Mirwaiz Moulana Muhammad Farooq, and from the time of  the Moi-e-Muqadas movement to the establishment of the Awami Action Committee, stood by him.

“He devoted his life in pursuit of a political ideal and till his demise, did not deviate from his ideals. Apart from being a prominent religious scholar and speaker, he is also known as an advocate of unity among Muslims in Kashmir. The sacrifices he made for communal harmony and mutual brotherhood will always be remembered forever,” he said. 

He said that with the passing away of Ansari,  Kashmiris lost a visionary and committed leader and this loss cannot be filled for a long time.

He expressed his heartfelt condolences to the Moulana’s son Moulana Masroor Abbas Ansari and his family, and prayed for peace to the departed soul. (KNS)
