Srinagar, Aug 19 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday said that authorities have not placed Hurriyat Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house arrest.
Manoj Sinha in an interview, said that Mirwaiz Umar Farooq is not under house arrest and he can go wherever he wants ' because we have not imposed any restriction on him.'
"Even when Article 370 was abrogated in Jammu and Kashmir in 2019, he wasn't even slapped with public safety act," he said. "However, we have kept cops around him for his safety because what happened to his father, we don't want the same thing to happen to him," the LG said.
He should decide what he wants. "We have not imposed any restrictions on him, If he wants to go somewhere, he can go," he said. (KNS)
