Srinagar, June 29 (KNS): Inspector general of police Kashmir zone, Vijay Kumar on Wednesday said that two militants killed in Kulgam operation were local categorised militants and that the encounter was important as it was close to national highway, yatra route.

 
Kashmir zone police, while quoting IGP Kashmir on its official Twitter handle informed that both the militants were local categorised militants of LeT outfit.
 
He said that the encounter was important as the operation site was very close to national highway, which is the yatra route.
 
Earlier, encounter broke out in Nowpora locality of Mir Bazar in Kulgam district on Wednesday afternoon.
 
Police said that in the ensuing encounter two LeT militants were killed, while arms and ammunition were also recovered from the site of encounter. (KNS)
