Srinagar, Aug 01 (KNS): Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh Tuesday said the graph of militancy in J&K is down but not wiped-out fully. He said J&K Police, Army and other security agencies are tirelessly working on to trace out the disappeared army man in south Kashmir’s Kulgam.

“Militancy in Jammu and Kashmir is down, but not wiped-out fully. There are still elements existing who want to derail peace in the region but I want to clarify that elements inimical to peace will be dealt strictly,” DGP Dilbagh Singh said.

Replying to a query about disappeared army man of Kulgam, the DGP said J&K Police, Army and other security agencies are working on it. “We are working in a coordinated manner. We hope the Army man will be ok. But so far there is no concrete clue on which basis we can say the reality,” the DGP said.

“We have got leads and district police Kulgam in association with other security agencies are working on it,” DGP added.

He said as anniversary of abrogation of Article 370 is near, the Kashmir has witnessed a drastic change on ground with people and youth especially concentrating in their studies and contributing in nation building.

“Today downtown has become hub of tourism. Downtown team has turned winner in today’s final match of 19th J&K Police Martyr's Memorial Football Tournament. You can see how things are changing on ground. Boys and girls are bothering about their career. They are more focused about carrying their studies and taking part in competitive exams. I am sure boys and girls who are focused on their career and studies will do much better in times to come,” DGP said.

To a query, the DGP said that “Security situation in J&K is much good. Land and order situation is also better. There is hardly any land and order scenario being seen today.”

“Anti-militancy operations are going on successfully. The number of active terrorists is all time low. There is hardly any terrorist left. Tourist flow is unprecedented. Mega Amarnath Yatra is going on. Also Muharram processions took place after a gap of three decades with smooth and peaceful manner. People deserves praise as they cooperated immensely,” DGP added.

On Narco-Terrorism, the DGP said that we are getting good results on this front. “Around 20 big modules of narco-terrorism have been busted in last and current year so far. Most of the modules have been brought to justice and remaining will also be booked,” he said.

About presence of foreign terrorists in valley, the DGP Dilbagh Singh said “There is some presence of FT’s in south Kashmir areas. We have information about some o f them and we are working out certain operations. I am sure we will be able to take action against them soon,” DGP held. (KNS)
