MeT predicts light to moderate rains for two days; possibility of light snowfall in upper reaches

Srinagar, Oct 17, (KNS): Sonum Lotus has forecasted widespread light to moderate rain in plains of valley with light snowfall in upper reaches till Monday forenoon.

While talking exclusively to Kashmir News Service ( KNS), the weatherman said that, as predicted light rain occurred at most places of valley and at scattered places at Jammu. The weather will remain cloudy and rainy till forenoon of Monday morning with moderate rains from today afternoon.

Light snowfall is expected at higher reaches of valley with improvement in weather thereafter. Mainly dry weather is expected from October 19-22. No prediction of rains or snow for next one week, he added.

Today will be a cold day due to intermittent rains. For Crops and agricultural land some minor precautions should be taken but no special advisory is issued as the rains are seasonal, he said.

If heavy snowfall or rains will be forecasted, the MeT department will issue a advisory beforehand, he asserted.

Meanwhile, Srinagar received rainfall of 2.4 mm in 24 hours while minimum temperature recorded was 11.3° C. (KNS)
