A MeT official told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that fairly widespread to scattered light to moderate rain and thundershowers is expected for the next two days in J&K.

He said that a yellow warning has also been issued for isolated thunder showers and lightning in Kashmir Valley for today and tomorrow.

He added that light to moderate rain is most likely to continue over Kupwara, Baramulla, Ganderbal, Northern parts of Srinagar, Parts of Budgam, Katra and South Western parts of Jammu during next 1-2 hours, while there will be general cloudy to overcast weather in other districts of J&K.

Meanwhile, Jammu-Srinagar national highway remained closed for traffic movement for the second consecutive day due to shooting stones in Ramban district.

"Shooting stones in Panthyal stretch of the Jammu-Srinagar highway continue to block the road as restoration work could not be started because of incessant rain," an official said.

He said that no vehicular traffic will be allowed on the highway today and restoration work will be started immediately after the weather improves.

The official added that SSG road remains closed in view of the maintenance and repair. (KNS)
