Srinagar, Mar 7 (KNS) ; People's Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday expressed grief over the death of veteran journalist and chief editor of the Urdu daily Nida-e-Mashriq, Abdul Rashid Shah.
The 78-year-old senior journalist passed away in Srinagar after a prolonged illness.
In her condolence message, Mehbooba described Shah as a respected and principled journalist who dedicated several decades to journalism in Kashmir.
She said that through his thoughtful writings and editorials in Nida-e-Mashriq, Shah consistently reflected the sentiments, aspirations and concerns of the people of Kashmir, earning him respect across the media fraternity.

The PDP president said his demise is a significant loss to the journalistic community and society at large. She extended her condolences to the bereaved family, particularly his son Haroon Rashid, who is currently serving as editor of the newspaper and carrying forward his father's legacy.
Mufti prayed for peace to the departed soul and strength for the family to bear the loss. (KNS)
