MBBS students booked under UAPA for celebrating Pakistan’s victory against India

Srinagar, Oct 26 (KNS): Police have booked MBBS students of two medical colleges of Srinagar for celebrating Pakistan cricket team’s victory against India in T20 World Cup match on Sunday. The match was played in Dubai.

Official sources told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that the Police took notice of two incidents, one at hostel of SKIMS hospital Soura and another at Government Medical college (GMC) hostel in Karan Nagar area of Srinagar.

They said that taking cogzinance of these two incidents an FIR was lodged against the students and warden of SKIMS Soura for celebrating Pakistan’s victory over India in the world cup match.

Notably, videos of MBBS students and other courses, residing in the hostel of SKIMS Soura, raising slogans and bursting firecrackers in the hospital campus after Pakistan’s win, went viral on social media.

The official sources said a case has been registered under section 13 of the unlawful activities prevention Act (UAPA) of 105A and 505 IPC, while another case under FIR no. 71/2021 under section 13 of the UAPA was registered at police station Karan Nagar against those students who reside at GMC hostel for raising pro-Pakistan slogans and celebrating Pakistan’s victory.

They said that these cases are open FIR’s and the accused in these cases are yet to be identified, while further investigations have been taken up regarding the incidents. (KNS)
