Langate (Kupwara), Jan 15 (KNS): Residents of several villages of Langate tehsil in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district are up in arms against the Power development Department (PDD) for failing to provide them power supply as per schedule.

The residents of Qalamabad, Audoora, Drungsoo, Lawoosa , Nowgam , Shahnagri, Khudi, and adjoining villages said they were not receiving the electricity as per the schedule.

The aggrieved resident told that they were facing the same problem for past few years in every winter “ and the concerned department was watching as mute spectator.”

The angry resident said despite paying our regular electricity traffic bills they are not receiving the power supply as per the schedule, they said they are getting only 2-3 hours power supply in 24 hours.

Every time we were assured the problem will be resolved. but has not been redressed yet,” he said Similar reports were received from other areas of Kupwara including Hangha, Haril , Shanoo, and other places, the people have alleged they are not receiving the power supply as per schedule in these areas.

They said this year they face much interrupted power supply as compared to the previous years.

A resident of Audoora Ghulam Ahmad said the PDD should charge half electric fee in winter as fail to provide the electricity as per schedule. “This winter we are facing more problems he added.”

It to note here that, In1977, 11000 line of Nogam Fielder was installed but till date it has never been repaired and since this 11000 line is spread from plain area of ??25 km to forest area and temporary employees of the department are working day and night.

By trying till this nogam fielder works on 11000 thousand line and it takes some days due to which often this nogam line breaks due to which people face power problems. (KNS)
