Mawer residents decry drinking water facility

Handwara, June 08 (KNS) :- Scores of villagers from the Qalamabad areas of Mawer, Handwara on Wednesday expressed strong resentment against the Jal Shakti Department for failing to provide them with portable drinking water facilities.
 
According to reports, the villages, including Audoora, Warpora, Drungusa, Check Audoora, Umer Abad Audoora, are without drinking water facilities due to which they are facing immense hardships.
 
Residents in these areas claim that vested interests are leaving pipes in paddy fields to irrigate their paddy fields.
 
 People in Lam Audoora also said, many 4 inch pipes have been stolen a few days back, adding the department has failed to take action against these people.
 
Residents of these areas claim they have informed the relevant department official several times in the past, but they have paid no attention to the matter.
 
Inhabitants said the department should conduct a massive drive against the erring people who are leaving water pipes in paddy fields.
 
They said if the department didn't take action against these people, The residents of these villages will suffer tremendously.
 
People are abandoning water pipes in paddy fields because these areas are experiencing a water crisis.
 
The officer said, people should avoid these activities so that people won't face problems.(KNS)
