Handwara, July 17 (KNS): Labourers of Mawer Block in north Kashmir working under MNREGA on Saturday urged authorities to release their payments ahead of Eid.

Speaking to Kashmir News Services, the Labourers said their payments for the year 2017,2018,219,2020, has not been released by the authorities leaving them under stress.

They said they have borrowed loans to buy the material for these workers, however, despite the passing of many years the payments have not been released.

The labourers said we have no sources of income and our hard-earned money has been put withheld by the RDD department due to unknown reasons.

Bashir Ahmad, a labourer from the Mawer area said "only three days left for the eid and I don't have money to buy clothes for my children, and like me, there are thousands of labourers who are without money on this eid.

The labourers have urged Lieutenant Governor  Monoj Sinha, Director RDD Kashmir, and Deputy Commissioner Kupwara to intervene in the matter.(KNS)
