Masoodi demands Central University for Tourism and Hospitality at Anantnag

New Delhi, Aug 03 (KNS) : JKNC leader and MP Annatnag Hasnain Masoodi today while participating in debate on the Central Universities (Amendment) Bill, 2022 Bill demanded a Central University for Tourism and Hospitality at Anantnag, Jammu and Kashmir.

The Bill proposes to convert National Rail and Transportation Institute ( NRTI) , deemed to be University under University Grants Commission Act, 1956 autonomous Central University to be known as Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya. The University is an endeavour to address the requirement of specialised talent in the transportation sector and carry out critically needed research and development in the sector and above all develop masters and doctoral degrees in the transportation sector. The proposed University shall therefore create the much needed critical capability and capacity and reverse the brain drain.

Masoodi said that having regard to the huge potential of tourism and its role in development, it is necessary to make a similar endeavour in the tourism and hospitality sector. “No city or town in the Country would have better claim to such an institution than Anantnag,” he said.(KNS)
