Srinagar May 05 (KNS) :  The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Member of Parliament from Anantnag Hasnain Masoodi on Thursday called on LG Manoj Sinha and flagged a number of public issues with him for timely redressal.

Masoodi, who called on the LG at Raj Bhawan, drew his attention towards the plethora of issues concerning various sections of society in Jammu and Kashmir.

He raised the issue of withdrawing of security to political activists, former legislatures and office bearers of National Conference. He called for having a uniform security cover for all the politicians.

Seeking regularisation and removal of pay anomalies of daily-wager ,need based and contractual employees, Masoodi highlighted the grave problems faced by daily rated, temporary, casual, contractual, need based, seasonal and other workers serving in different government departments, local bodies, public sector undertakings and other government institutions.

Masoodi also sought removal of disparity in emoluments of Home Guards. He said the Home guards in J&K are entitled to mere Rs 2700 per month, while as in the rest of the country, the monthly remuneration of their counterparts is Rs 23000.

He also sought the removal of disparity in the pension for specially abled people. “The disabled people  in J&K  only get 1/5th of what is given to their counterparts in other parts of the country as a monthly pension,'' he said adding, “The amount of pension has remain unchanged even after 2019.”

He also raised concern over the delay in the handing over of borewells to saffron farmers. "It has been a long time since the land was acquired from Saffron farmers for the digging of borewells under the Saffron mission scheme. There has been no headway on the handing over of these borewells to farmers to meet the anticipated purposes. Handing over of these borewells will give a flip to the saffron cultivation in the region,” he said.

LG assured Masoodi that the government will make efforts for the speedy redressal of issues raised by him during the breadth of the meeting. (KNS)
