Mascot, Logo, Anthem & Jerseys for Khelo India Water Sports Festival 2025 Unveiled in Srinagar

Srinagar, August 14 (KNS): Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Jammu and Kashmir, Satish Sharma, and MLA Zadibal, Tanvir Sadiq, on Thursday released the logo, mascot, anthem, jingle, and jerseys for athletes, support staff, volunteers, and officials of the first-ever Khelo India Water Sports Festival 2025.

In a historic first, Jammu and Kashmir will host the Khelo India Water Sports Festival 2025 on the pristine waters of Dal Lake in Srinagar from August 21 to 23.

The vibrant mascot, inspired by the Himalayan Kingfisher, symbolizes the spirit of adventure, nature, and competition on Dal Lake, with its bold orange and blue representing energy, tranquility, and the beauty of Kashmir. The logo captures the essence of the region, featuring a Shikara gliding on Dal Lake against the backdrop of snow-capped mountains and pine trees.

The anthem and jingles celebrate Kashmir’s beauty, youthful energy, and sportsmanship, blending Kashmiri, Urdu, and Hindi verses to depict Dal Lake’s shimmering waters and the cultural charm of the region.

Speaking on the occasion, Satish Sharma said the 800 athletes and hundreds of visiting officials from 28 states and eight Union Territories participating in the festival will return as brand ambassadors of Jammu and Kashmir. He stressed that the event would promote both sports and tourism.

MLA Tanvir Sadiq said the festival would help uplift the region’s economy and position Dal Lake as the water sports hub of the country, calling it a proud moment for the people of J&K.

Commissioner/Secretary Social Welfare Department and Administrative Secretary Youth Services and Sports, Sarmad Hafeez, said stakeholders including hoteliers, shikarawalas, travel agents, and various departments have been roped in to make the event a success.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelHe added that the festival will showcase the diverse cultures of J&K, while the Sports Authority of India is handling registrations and Doordarshan will provide live coverage.

Backgrounder
The maiden Khelo India Water Sports Festival will be inaugurated on Dal Lake on August 21, marking a proud moment for Jammu and Kashmir. The event will not only highlight the sporting talent of the UT but also serve as a grand celebration of local tourism, handicrafts, art, and culture.

The Youth Services and Sports Department has coordinated with various departments including Tourism, PDD, Jal Shakti, Traffic, Civil Aviation, LCMA, Handicrafts, SDRF, Health, and Fire Services to ensure flawless execution. Around 800 athletes and officials from across the country will compete in kayaking, canoeing, and rowing, along with demonstration events like dragon boat racing, water skiing, and Shikara racing.

The opening ceremony will feature a drone light show, traditional folk dances, celebrity performances, and stalls showcasing local cuisine, art, and Self-Help Group products. Organised by the J&K Sports Council in collaboration with the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and the Sports Authority of India, the festival aims to position Srinagar as a premier sports destination in the country.(KNS)
