Market checking intensified across Kupwara on Eid-ul-Adha eve

 

KUPWARA, JULY 7 (KNS): To ensure supply of essential commodities at government approved rates to the consumers and to avoid hoarding, black marketing and profiteering ahead of Eid-ul-Adha, market checking has been intensified in various markets across Kupwara.

 

The teams constituted by Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir consist of officers from FCS&CA, Revenue, Food Safety, Municipality, Legal Meteorology, Sheep Husbandry and Police are continuously inspecting markets in their respective jurisdictions.

 

A joint market checking team headed by Assistant Director FCS&CA Kupwara today inspected various markets of Kupwara town including Bypass road market, Jamia Market, Iqbal Market, Hajaj market, Dar Gali, Old Chowk and Reigpora and checked the availability of essential commodities.

 

The team also checked rates and quality of goods and seized 216 liters of expired milk and destroyed it on the spot. The checking team inspected 160 establishments and penalized 8 shopkeepers from which a fine of Rs.5600 was realized.

During the market inspection, the shopkeepers were asked to strictly implement the Government approved rates.

 

Market checking was also held in Handwara, Karnah, Sogam and other tehsil headquarters during the week.(KNS)
