Make Pampore part of Jhelum & Tawi Flood Recovery Project: Masoodi

 Srinagar, Aug 01 (KNS): JKNC Member of Parliament Hasnain Masoodi today called on Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and demanded that Pampore be included as Project Area under World Bank powered multi-million dollar Jhelum & Tawi Recovery Project (JTRP). 


According to a statement, issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Masoodi informed the Minister that Pampore, famous for its saffron located on the banks of Jhelum was worst affected by the devastating floods of 2014.

The statement reads that the town remained submerged for weeks together and all the important infrastructure including Court complex, ITI, Sericulture complex, PDD Receiving Stations, sub -stations were badly damaged. 

“The river banks breached at half dozen places like Drangbal, Kadalbal, Frestalbal and the flood water inundated the entire Town and surrounding hamlets.”

It added that Masoodi reminded the minister the objective of the JTRP is to enhance and increase disaster resilience. (KNS)
