Major jolt to NC in Jammu as Devender Rana resigns from party

Jammu, Oct 10 (KNS): In a major development and big jolt to the National Conference party, former legislator from Jammu’s Nagrota assembly constituency, Devender Singh Rana on Sunday resigned from the basic membership of the party.

Talking to reporters in Jammu, Rana said that he has resigned from the basic membership of the party as well as the provincial president post for Jammu.

Notably, Rana was NC’s prominent face in the Jammu region and his resignation is seen as a big jolt to the party.

Meanwhile, sources also said that another prominent face of NC in Jammu, Surjeet Singh Salathia, a former legislator, has also resigned from the party.

Rana was once a close confidante of former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir and NC vice-president, Omar Abdullah.

Rana was the most prominent Hindu face of the National Conference in the Jammu region. He is the younger brother of Union minister Dr Jitendra Singh. Despite the massive Modi wave in 2014, Rana had won the Nagrota assembly seat on an NC ticket. (KNS)
