Main G20 event to promote J&K as global tourism destination: Secretary Tourism

Srinagar, April 28 (KNS): Secretary Tourism and Culture Jammu and Kashmir Dr Syed Abid Rasheed Shah Friday said that the upcoming G20 event in the Union Territory is set to boost tourism industry and Jammu and Kashmir as a global tourist destination.


Talking to reporters, he said that the third tourism working group meeting of the G20 countries is scheduled to take place in Kashmir from May 22-24, and the prelude event was already held with more than 60 students from various colleges and universities in attendance.

He highlighted the significance of the event for Jammu and Kashmir tourism industry and its potential to attract international visitors. 

He also emphasized that tourism is the backbone of J&K's economy as maximum share of the Union territory's GDP comes from this sector.

"People of Jammu and Kashmir, including students are widely participating in various events ahead of the main event. With this massive event, J&K is set to showcase its beauty and hospitality to the world and possibly draw more visitors in the future," he said. (KNS)
