Lunahare team lifted Army's Volleyball tournament cup in Kupwara

Kupwara, Aug 31 (KNS) : Indian Army at Panzgam in Kupwara has organised an inter-village Volleyball league to celebrate National Sports Day. Began on 29 Aug, a total number of 14 teams participated from villages of Melyal and Kralpura block. 


The final match was played between Gulgulosa and Lunahare. Outstanding performance by Lunahare team stood out first overall and Gulguosa team lifted the trophy of runner up.

An official told the Kashmir News Service (KNS), that organizing such events has always been challenging as the district was once a hotbed of the militancy but due to the extra ordinary efforts of India Army, locals are now proving their skill and metal. 

It is an imperative job to keep the youth engaged in positive activities such like sports activities and learning various skills for the employment. Indian Army has been taking such initiative in the remote areas of Kashmir, they said. 

"Organizing such tournaments not only help to maintain physical and mental health but also helps in learning values like team spirit and leadership skills" they added.(KNS)
