LLM students aghast over delay in KU PhD entrance results

Srinagar, May 29 (KNS): The students who have recently qualified Kashmir University's entrance test for admissions for PhD  in Law are aghast over the callous, lackadaisical and undemocratic approach of K.U authorities.

It has been almost 6 months but the final selection list is yet to be published due to an impending issue regarding the elegibility of students who have pursued a one year (LLM) which UGC has already approved in 2013.

It is pertinent to note that the UGC by a notification dated 18 Jan 2013 has clearly stated that both one year and two year (LLM) courses are valid, therefore, there should have been no issue whatsoever regarding the qualificational elegibility of these students.

Ironically many students who are currently persuing a PhD in Law in K.U. have a one year masters as well therefore it seems that the faculty or University officials are malafiedly persecuting these students, some of whom happen to have qualified the prestigious UGC NET exams.

When contacted one of the University officials in the Academic Research section stated that the issue has been resolved as "we had sought a formal vote from the dept of law which with a majority of 15:1 have assented in favour of one year LLM".

But sadly still the final list hasn't yet been published, which has left these students woefully sceptical.

The students alleged that this is the worst form of tyranny from K.U authorities where they are being demeaned and singled out for having qualified their entrance test which most of their own( campus)  students failed.

They have urged the Chancellor LG Manoj Sinha and Vice Chancellor Neelofar Khan to urgently intervene and get the list notified. (KNS)
