Srinagar, Jan 22 (KNS): Peoples Conference senior leader and provincial president Kashmir, Khurshid Alam on Sunday welcomed Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha’s assurance over ongoing land eviction drives however simultaneously maintained that “assurances need to be adhered strictly to avoid confusions”.
He said the eviction order by J&K Government has created chaos and confusions on ground, leaving poor and common people into an “uncertain” situation. “I welcome the statement of LG Sinha that poor and common people won’t be touched during evictions drives, but at the same time such assurances need to be adhered strictly on ground as enforcing agencies have been resorting to random behavior”, the PC leader said.
He also added that our party president wrote a letter to LG Sinha over eviction drives and urged him to issue a formal, unambiguous order which spares the poor and makes a distinction between possession borne out of necessity and possession borne out of land grab.
The PC leader appealed to LG Manoj Sinha to come out with some tangible solution to end the uncertainty among masses. (KNS)
