Jammu, Nov 5 (KNS): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday called for a coordinated intelligence mechanism involving the Police, Prisons Department and intelligence agencies to counter terror networks, radicalisation and law and order threats, as the security arrangements in Jammu and Kashmir's prisons came under a high-level review.
Chairing a meeting at Lok Bhavan in Jammu, Sinha directed that intelligence sharing among the three agencies be strengthened through regular coordination meetings, with a focus on identifying and addressing security threats.
The review also brought prison surveillance and internal security arrangements into focus, with directions for surprise inspections of jail premises and surrounding areas.
The Lieutenant Governor ordered forensic examination of electronic devices seized during such inspections, underlining the need for closer scrutiny of potential security breaches.
