LAWDA carries out demolition drive in Nigeen, demolishes illegal structures

Srinagar, Aug 03 (KNS): The enforcement wing of Lakes and Waterways Development Authority (LAWDA) on Tuesday carried out a demolition drive at five different locations in Nigeen area of Srinagar city to demolish illegal structures.  

In a statement, issuer to Kashmir News Service (KNS), a spokesperson said that the Enforcement Wing LAWDA under the supervision of Enforcement officers Abdul Aziz Qadri and Zahid Aziz Samoon in the presence of SDPO Zakura and SHO Nigeen conducted a special demolition operation in the areas of Dojji Mohalla NFR, Hazratbal and Nigeen.

The statement reads that during the drive two double-storey houses, one single storey house, three shops, tin fencing at five different locations and one plinth and tin shed were demolished which were raised illegally. 

“Also some building material in the shape of Sand/Bajri was seized from Nigeen Sadarbal. The demolition was carried out with the assistance of police station Nigeen. However, the demolition team of Enforcement Wing of LAWDa removed the illegal constructions in spite of resistance from the public,” it reads.

As per the statement strict action shall be taken against those found indulging in any sort of illegal constructions or encroachments in its jurisdiction.      
              
“The public residing within the LAWDA jurisdiction are hereby directed not to go for any sort of illegal constructions and encroachments, as the Enforcement wing will continue with demolition of illegal construction.”

It reads that moreover, Tipper and Load carrier owners are directed not carry construction material in the prohibited area of Dal and Nigeen Lakes without permission. (KNS)
