Laigaroo condemns house arrest  of Mehbooba Mufti 

Srinagar September 07:(KNS)   Peoples Democratic Party leader and youth coordinator for central Kashmir, Arif Laigaroo has condemned the house arrest of former Chief Minister Mehooba Mufti and preventing her from going ahead with their plan.

According to a statement to KNS, reads “It is shameful to our democratic traditions and disrespectful to our Constitutional values that former Chief Minister, is being held under house detention without any basis. I demand his immediate release," Laigaroo said. “With this unprovoked action against a former chief minister n, the Govt has delivered democracy another body blow.”

Laigaroo said while the UT and central governments were asserting that the situation was normal in kashmir and people were celebrating the Centre’s decision to abrogate the constitutional provisions that gave a special status to Jammu and Kashmir, opposition leaders were not even being allowed to move.
“This double speak of the government has exposed it on a number of occasions,” the PDP leader added.

He said keeping Mufti under house arrest for no reason was “in total violation of any democratic norms”,(KNS)
