Kupwara Advocate files Intervention Application in PIL on COVID-19 in HC

Srinagar, April 18 (KNS): Division Bench of High Court of Jammu and Kashmir comprising Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice Rajnesh Oswal, while hearing an intervention application regarding COVID-19 control measures in district Kupwara in a Public Interest Litigation (PIL NO 04 OF 2020) pertaining to spread of Novel Corona Virus (COVID-19) has issued guidelines to the government to submit the status report by next hearing. The entire proceedings in the matter were conducted through video conferencing and video calls.

According to statement issued to KNS, the intervention application in PIL NO 04 OF 2020 pertaining to spread of Novel Corona Virus (COVID-19) was filed by advocate Mir Mansoor haling from kalaroos kupwara on 14th April and raised issues for urgent intervention viz a viz district Kupwara regarding deadly COVID-19 control measures.

Advocate Mansoor appraised the court about the non availability of life saving drugs, lack of ventilators and other facilities to contain deadly corno virus in the district. He also sought urgent intervention of HC in the matter as district Adminstration has shutdown all units of SDH Kupwara including gyane and dialysis and the problems thereof faced by people while reaching other health institutions. In the intervention application, the counsel pleaded for immediate financial assistance and supply of essential commodities to the down trodden sections of society including people living under below poverty line, Gujjar, bakarwal and families affected by cross border shelling in areas like Panzgam, Tamunia and chowkibal.

While hearing the Application on Friday the Hon'ble Division Bench comprising Hon'ble Cheif justice Gita Mittal and Hon'ble justice Rajesh Oswal issued notice to the governmnet which was accepted by Ld. AAG Mr B A Dar, The division bench also directed govt. to submit status report by next hearing.

Meanwhile, hearing the matter under the PIL NO 04 OF 2020, the Division Bench earlier has directed Department of Health and Medical Education to make available adequate equipment of every kind for the use of health care personnel and all other personnel involved in any aspect of COVID-19 issue, the statement said.(KNS).
