Kulgam April 29 (KNS): Police in Kulgam recovered a kidnapped girl and arrested the accused person involved in the commission of the crime.

On 25/04/2021, PS Manzgam received a complaint from an individual stating therein that his daughter had been kidnapped by one person namely Parvaiz Ahmad Bhat son of Fayaz Ahmad Bhat resident of Shatmuqam Drugmulla, Kupwara.  

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 23/2021 under relevant sections of law was registered in PS Manzgam and investigation was initiated.

An investigating team under the supervision of SDPO DH Pora and headed by SHO PS Manzgam was constituted. Acting on specific leads, the team was able to recover the kidnapped girl and arrest the accused person from Kupwara. He has been shifted to PS Manzgam where he remains in custody.

After fulfilling all medico-legal formalities, the girl has been handed over to her legal heirs. Investigation into the matter is in progress.

Swift action by police against anti-social elements has been appreciated by the locals. Community members are requested to cooperate with police in curbing social crimes in their neighbourhood. They can share information pertaining to social crimes with police. We reassure the community members that our efforts in curbing social crimes shall continue.(KNS)
