Demands High level probe, urges Govt to take erring officials to task

Srinagar, July 06 (KNS): Congress leader Kadfeen Choudhary has questioned government claims that amid the prevalent lockdown in government schools, the cooking cost of Mid-Day Meal scheme is reaching students through DBT mode.
Kadfeen in a statement issued to KNS, has termed such claims akin to mirror and smoke, stating that there are mounting complaints from the parents of those kids who study in government schools that they have received no payment against the coking cost of mid day meal scheme.
He said the matter merits the government's seriousness and a high level official inquiry should be launched over the transfer of the funds in question.
Kadfeen said that due to the non- serious and questionable style of functioning of the department of education, government schools and children studying in them are becoming the victims of the official apathy. “There are even schools operational in rented buildings in Kashmir and no rent is paid for years by the education department. There are grave irregularities found in the distribution of mid day meals. Now amid the lockdown and government’s claims of providing the cooking cost of these meals to kids, it looks sceptic and fuzzy,” said Kadfeen.
He urged upon the governor administration to hold those at the helm in the education department accountable to the matter and confirm whether the kids have received any financial aid since the imposition of the lockdown (KNS)
