Kerosene dealers’ call on G.A.Mir, rue unprecedented fuel price hike

Srinagar May 9 (KNS): Unprecedented hike on Kerosene oil and other essentials commodities are worrying, a matter of grave concern for the common people especially poor. People are being punished and looted under the garb of price hike on essentials, Kerosene, petrol and diesel.

J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President Ghulam Ahmad Mir made these comments during a meeting with a deputation of Kerosene dealers, who had approached him to project their grievances for redressal.

The deputation briefed JKPCC President Ghulam Ahmad Mir over the extreme hike on Kerosene, terming it as intolerable to general public given their financial stringencies.

The Kerosene license holders of Kashmir which makes 2800 people, have also been rendered jobless due to the extreme hike on Kerosene with the result common people are not able to purchase Kerosene at higher rates for their daily use.

On this occasion JKPCC President Ghulam Ahmad Mir regretted that in 2014 during the Congress-NC Coalition Govt the Kerosene was sold @ 14/Per liter, besides 7 liters of Kerosene was provided to people on ration cards, was made fully available for the use consumers.

Since the BJP Govt assumed power at Centre, the prices of Kerosene and other essentials touched the sky, while making their purchase impossible, Ghulam Ahmad Mir rued.

The deputation also apprised JKPCC President that even the BPL category was not getting Kerosene for which they were entitled surprisingly Kerosene is provided to AAY Category, but they comprise some families only, which hardly makes any difference.

JKPCC President expressed serious concern over the problems confronting Kerosene dealers, urging the Govt take effective measures to ensure that the dealers are able to carry on their business activities, besides ensuring that price on Kerosene are made cheaper for the use of common people.

Mir assured the deputation that Congress Party will take up their grievance at every appropriate forum for their redressal.(KNS)
