KCC&I urge LG admin to announce amnesty for power tariff in favour of commercial, industrial consumers

 Srinagar, Feb 22 (KNS): The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry (Inc) on Tuesday urged LG Manoj Sinha to announce amnesty for power tariff in favor of Commercial and Industrial Consumers. 

 
In a statement, issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), a spokesperson said that the Industrialists of Jammu & Kashmir region have almost collapsed due to Covid -19 crisis as the situation got from bad to worst in J&K.
 
As per the statement, KCC&I president, Sheikh Ashiq Ahmad drew attention of LG Sinha, chief secretary Arun Kumar Mehta and Principal Secretary, Power Development Department, Nitishwar Kumar towards the industrial sector of J&K. “Due to the financial crunch a number of units have not availed the previous Power Amnesty Scheme.”
 
He also requested the authorities not to disconnected power supplies, forcing the Industrialists and Commercial Establishments to close down their units. 
 
KCC&I urged the LG Administration to announce 6 months (three instalments) amnesty to the Commercial Consumers so that they can pay their pending electricity bills waiving interest and penalties besides after settling the same with the PDD.
 
“We expect positive approach by government to encourage such industrialists to revive their units and business establishments,” reads the statement. (KNS)
