Urges admin to take livelihood of business community into consideration before taking any future decision

Srinagar, Jan 07 (KNS): The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Friday expressed concern over spike in Covid-19 cases in Jammu & Kashmir and urged the authorities to take into consideration the livelihood of business community before taking any future decision to tackle the situation.  

According to a statement, issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), KCC&I said that an analysis of the spread of 3rd Covid wave in Jammu & Kashmir can be directly linked to ignoring of protocols by certain individuals amongst us.

“Now, after previous lockdown stands squandered away and Kashmir is in a worse situation than ever before. The society is now facing the threat of 3rd Covid Wave and the need of the hour is now collectively and sensibly fight for 3rd Covid wave,” reads the statement. 

It reads that the fight against 3rd wave rests on the shoulders of civil society and the general public now. “The civil society including mohalla committees, Masjid and Gurudwara committees, which have played a stellar role in supporting, feeding and helping lessen the sufferings of the people.”

It reads that the general public have displayed exemplary patience and cooperation despite heavy odds and deep stress. “It has to be borne in mind that the business community is presently undergoing the 12th month of lockdown which has inflicted heavy damages to the economy.”

KCC&I also urged the administration to keep the livelihood of the business community in mind before taking any future decision and tackle the situation in consultation with traders and business community.

It made a fervent appeal to all the social and grassroot leadership, thinkers and intellectuals, general public and NGO’s to shift their focus on the prevention of the Coronavirus by religiously following SOP’s and protocols with the thrust on wearing of masks. (KNS)
